Ag Committee to Consider Milk Marketing Board Nomination on Thursday

The Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee will consider the reappointment of Robert N. Barley to the Milk Marketing Board at a meeting set for 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 24, in Room 8E-B of the State Capitol East Wing, according to Committee Chairman Senator Elder Vogel.

Barley, who currently serves as Chairman of the Board, was unanimously confirmed to his current term by the Senate on June 18, 2018. He is a co-owner in Star Rock Farms, along with his brother Tom and cousin Abe, where they milk 1,500 cows, in addition to operating several other farm businesses which include crop farming, hog finishing, a broiler operation and custom cattle feedlot.

The Milk Marketing Board, created by the Milk Marketing Law, sets minimum producer, wholesale, and retail milk prices based on evidence presented at public hearings.
