Committee Approves Bill to Alter Center for Rural Pennsylvania Board Membership

HARRISBURG – The Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee today approved legislation, sponsored by Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23), who chairs the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, seeking to alter the membership of the Center’s board of directors, according to Committee Chairman Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47).

The measure, Senate Bill 450, would remove from the Center’s board the Director of the Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development and add a member from the Penn State Extension.

The goal of adding the Penn State Extension to the board is to allow for greater collaboration between the Extension and the Center in serving rural areas, said Sen. Yaw.
